Umpqua Steelhead

Image
Umpqua river steelhead fishing is still producing some nice spring steelhead. We have been getting a few opportunities a day and folks have been taking advantage of the great weather. There is some talk of a few springers getting caught and we are starting to book our spring Chinook trips on the Rogue and Umpqua rivers. Do not let this springer season pass you buy and give us a call today to see what we have in store for the 2015 season.

Umpqua River Steelhead Fishing

The steelhead fishing on the Umpqua River has been steady for the last couple of weeks. We saw heavy boat pressure this weekend but most boats were getting 1 to 3 fish with the guides fairing a little better. We were side-drifting yarn and eggs and had a great weekend on the river. We are closing in on the peak of the season but should see good fishing through April. You still have a couple of months to get into a fish of a lifetime so call us today. (530) 598-0530

Umpqua Steelhead Fishing

Umpqua River fishing guides are finding a few fresh winter steelhead. We spent last last weekend trying to find places to fish do to recent rains. The river was still a little high but managed to hook into a a couple nice fish. The guides were picking up 3 to 5 fish a boat, with the plunkers doing just as good if not better. The rivers are dropping into shape and should start to fish good in the coming weeks. If you haven't booked your winter steelhead trip you might want to get on the horn, the peak of the season is coming soon and you don't want to miss out on these chrome rockets. (530) 598-0530

Salmon fishing on the Rogue River

Image
Rogue River Salmon fishing continues to be good, we got 2 bites and put one in the net. Whitney finally got to go springer fishing and put the smack down on a wild Chinook. The month of July should continue to be fair fishing with even better weather.

Steelhead fishing in California

Darren and his son Brady fished with us today on the Klamath River and both of them got there first steelhead. We were sidedrifting and pulling plugs today and ended up with around 10 metal heads. At the end of an all day trip on the river you know you planted the bug when an 8 year old says "I don't want to be done I want to go up and do it again".  Mission accomplished.

The low, cold, and clear water has made for some slow days. Bob and Ray didn't give up and ended up with some nice Klamath River half pounders.

Took the Perez family fishing and got into some nice Klamath River steelhead. We were side drifting and covered 6 miles of river and found the fish in the faster water. Take a look at this hatchery fish its the largest keeper I have seen up this high in the river system. Chance hooked and landed his first fish and I have a feeling his dad has a new fishing partner.

OK I am starting to feel like a broken record, but the Klamath River is pumping out some nice winter steelhead in some pretty impressive numbers. We got nice fish to the boat today and its only the middle of December. All of our fish today we caught on yarn and eggs while sidedrifting in the riffles .

Got to do a little fishing in the SNOW today and pulled a couple nice steelhead in on some plugs...The lower river is holding some fresh winter fish and once this next storm passes they should be on the move....

Mark and Cole swung and twitched fly's today and got a few steelhead to take the presentation. It was a tough bite but when your fly fishing things are earned and much appreciated.

Kyle and Jesse put in some work on the metal heads today. We boated over 30 fish and a hand full of those were nice adult fish. The fish are moving around a little bit but we found their hiding spot and put meat in the net.

Alex and Jim got in on the half pounder action today and put the side drifters and the fly rods to good use. <*)))))><

The Norman's came and caught their first steelhead after many years of pursuing the target species of the angling community. The Klamath River is still pumping out the "Ironheads"

Mark and John came to town today and they roped in 30 fish and half of those fish were nice adults. The Klamath River is transitioning into the bigger winter fish and the river is loaded. If you want to test your steelheading abilities get your butt down to Happy Camp CA.

Richard came back for round 2 today and all I can say is WOW!!!! He caught the biggest steelhead I have ever seen this time of year. If we have fall fish this large, wait till our winter run shows up, the Klamath River is simply unbelievable and healthy as can be...
