Klamath River Fishing Report

Klamath River Fishing  10/09/17 update I have been fishing the Klamath River for the past few weeks and the fishing went from good to great in a single day. The salmon are spawning, and the steelhead are hanging out close by for an easy meal. Visit the fishing report section of my new website for details and stay up to date on my social media pages listed below. The fall fishing on the Klamath River is something you really have to see to believe, it's hands down the best fishing you can find in the lower 48. The fish are not trophy size but the action sets the famous Klamath River apart from the alternatives. If you want to get off the grid and catch some fish get a hold of me. Visit Ironhead Guide Service , for more information and keep up to date with my adventures on Facebook , Instagram , and LinkedIn , or feel free to me anytime @ (530) 598-0530. P.S. JERK WHEN I TELL YA  The Klamath River Fishing season is just a couple of months a

Klamath River Salmon Fishing FOR UPDATED INFORMATION PLEASE VISIT THE NEW WEBSITE www.ironheadguideservice.com The fall Chinook fishery on the Klamath and Trinity rivers will be closed for retention of salmon in 2017, so what this means is the Klamath and Trinity rivers will be catch and release only and not closed to angling. To help protect the stocks, ocean salmon fishing will also be closed in the California and Oregon KMZ zones (Klamath Management Zones), which run from Humbug Mt. south to Horse Mt. Visit the CDFW News Feed for more information The fall Chinook seasons on the Smith, Chetco, Rogue, Elk, and Umpqua rivers will not be affected by these closures. In fact the river fishing guides might actually see increased success do to the salmon not being targeted in the Ocean. So don’t be discouraged and let’s make the best of things. Pro guide Mario Gomez of Ironhead Guide Service will be fishing the Chetco River this year for fall chinook so it’s time to cross

Klamath River Salmon Fishing

Well, look what I found on my days off...Did some bobber fishing on the Lower Klamath River and this one couldn’t resist the pro-cured caviar. Didn’t see a lot of fish rolling but that doesn’t always mean they are not home. We are now booking our fall salmon and steelhead trips on the Klamath River and still have plenty of dates in September and a few in October. Don’t miss out on the opportunity to put some meat in the freezer this fall, pick up the phone and give us a call.

Winter Steelhead on the Klamath

Image
The Klamath River Fishing is on hold for a bit, I had to cancel our trips this week because the river is BLOWN OUT. So we decided to do some gorilla bank fishing and got into some cold hard steel. The waters were high and off color but we tested our luck and ended up catching some nice adults. The winter fish are moving up the lower river and should be through out the entire river in a month or so.

Klamath River Fishing (KINGS)

Klamath River fishing is starting to pick up, the last few weeks the jacks and the steelhead have been piling in. This week the guides on the lower river have been seeing 2 to 4 adult KINGS per boat. This beast was taken on some pro-cured eggs. Despite the low water conditions fish have been moving in and hanging out near the creeks and riffles.

Took Bob and Landin fishing today on the Klamath River, and dispite a tough bite we picked up a dozen steelhead. We were side drifting and pulling plugs while chasing the sun.

Took the Perez family fishing and got into some nice Klamath River steelhead. We were side drifting and covered 6 miles of river and found the fish in the faster water. Take a look at this hatchery fish its the largest keeper I have seen up this high in the river system. Chance hooked and landed his first fish and I have a feeling his dad has a new fishing partner.

Winter steelhead fishing on the Klamath River has been off the HOOK. We have not received and rain and river is running at summer flows but the fish are moving in and with the warmer weather the fish are feeding.

Richard came back for round 2 today and all I can say is WOW!!!! He caught the biggest steelhead I have ever seen this time of year. If we have fall fish this large, wait till our winter run shows up, the Klamath River is simply unbelievable and healthy as can be...
