Klamath River Fishing  10/09/17 update I have been fishing the Klamath River for the past few weeks and the fishing went from good to great in a single day. The salmon are spawning, and the steelhead are hanging out close by for an easy meal. Visit the fishing report section of my new website for details and stay up to date on my social media pages listed below. The fall fishing on the Klamath River is something you really have to see to believe, it's hands down the best fishing you can find in the lower 48. The fish are not trophy size but the action sets the famous Klamath River apart from the alternatives. If you want to get off the grid and catch some fish get a hold of me. Visit Ironhead Guide Service , for more information and keep up to date with my adventures on Facebook , Instagram , and LinkedIn , or feel free to me anytime @ (530) 598-0530. P.S. Klamath River Salmon Fishing FOR UPDATED INFORMATION PLEASE VISIT THE NEW WEBSITE www.ironheadguideservice.com The fall Chinook fishery on the Klamath and Trinity rivers will be closed for retention of salmon in 2017, so what this means is the Klamath and Trinity rivers will be catch and release only and not closed to angling. To help protect the stocks, ocean salmon fishing will also be closed in the California and Oregon KMZ zones (Klamath Management Zones), which run from Humbug Mt. south to Horse Mt. Visit the CDFW News Feed for more information The fall Chinook seasons on the Smith, Chetco, Rogue, Elk, and Umpqua rivers will not be affected by these closures. In fact the river fishing guides might actually see increased success do to the salmon not being targeted in the Ocean. So don’t be discouraged and let’s make the best of things. Pro guide Mario Gomez of Ironhead Guide Service will be fishing the Chetco River this year for fall chinook so it’s time to cross

Klamath River Steelhead

The Klamath River Steelhead season has finally started to pick up, we saw good fishing this last week after the river dropped into shape. The fish are spread out and not concentrated in the normal places this year, so you really have to work for your bites and make your hook sets count. The winter fish are getting ready to start making their way to the mouths of the rivers and we will be pulling on some chrome rockets before you know it. We will be moving operations up to the Umpqua River soon and this year we will be chasing them giant trophy steelhead that call that river home. Stay tuned for dates and if you want to go you probably better book you date sooner than later.

The Klamath River fishing for steelhead is off to a good start so far this fall. I got a few solid days of steelhead slaying in before the river blew out on me. The salmon are spawning and the steelhead are feeding. We were getting 15 to 20 fish a day with a few nice adults. The 8 inches of rain we got on the west side of the Klamath brought the river up and with it came the remaining salmon that were stuck in the ocean due to the mouth of the river being sanded closed. The steelhead came pouring in with the rain and I strait whacked on the fish the first two days of the storm. I will be back on the grind tomorrow after the river greens up a little more and I am willing to bet my boat we will see the best fishing of the season. I have four days open 10/30, 11/11, 11/13, and 11/20 so book your trip ASAP. I have 3 other guides running trips for me this year so if you can't make one of my dates work but you want to rip some steel lip let me know and I will find a boat for you. "

Klamath River Fishing

Klamath River fishing is holding pretty steady for Ironhead Guide Service. We have definitely completed the transition into our winter holes. The fish have all moved into the deep slow water and have been a little picky with their diets. One day they will want the plugs and the next day they won't even sniff em. The low and clear water conditions coupled with the cold weather have made for some tuff bites but if you be patient and have faith in you gear you will be rewarded like the happy customers below. We have dates left for December and soon we will be booking our trophy winter steelhead season so you better get on the calendar.

Klamath River Fishing Report

Klamath River Fishing reports are showing signs of a transition. We have been working the middle and lower sections of the river and have finally started to see a few winter steelhead. We have been getting rain every few days and the river is starting to turn green and come up a little bit. The spawning beds are starting to be ghosts towns and the metalheads are spreading out on us. Side drifting and plugs have been producing fish for us and I have the river all to myself. Let's go get some fish, we have lots of guides with days open in December so give us a call today to book you Klamath River Adventure.

Salmon and Steelhead on the Klamath River are increasing their presence as each day passes. The Klamath River fall fishing is always good but this is the first season I have seen steelhead actively feeding on eggs in September. The salmon and steelhead are both biting and eggs have been the go to bait. We have been back-bouncing and boon-doging for salmon and side drifting for steelhead. We are getting 1 to 3 salmon, and 4 to 6 steelhead a day. The time of year we all have been waiting for is here, if you haven't made your plans to get to the famous Klamath River you're missing out. I have boats available for 3 days only in October, so you better act fast.

Got to fish my home waters this week and the Klamath River Fishing is steady. We fished the middle and lower river and did well. We were side-drifting yarn and eggs in the slower water and ended up getting over 30 half-pounders and 3 to 8 adults per day. This was the first week for consistent winter steelhead for us and the next 2 months should only get better.

We have been blown out on the Klamath River for a couple of weeks and the river is finally starting to clear up. We ran some trips this weekend in the middle section of the Klamath and found a few nice fall fish. The Klamath River Fishing should start to pick up in the coming weeks so stay tuned. We still have available dates so give us a call if you want to wet a line.

Despite high and muddy river conditions the Klamath River Fishing is still going strong. We have been getting some nice steelhead  side-drifting yarn and eggs. The fish have been hanging out in some of the softer seams but cant resist the sight of a snack when it goes by.
